Thank you for choosing Primary Pediatrics of Kentucky as your Pediatric Practice. We look forward to working with you to provide quality care to your children.
There is a nationwide delay in shipments of the flu vaccine. We are eagerly anticipating further shipments of our flu shots late October or early November. We will hold as many flu clinics as needed to get everyone in for their vaccines once we receive them.
We are waiting for the quadrivalent vaccine, which is not available at Kroger or Walgreens. The quadrivalent vaccine provides additional coverage for a certain strain of influenza B and is the recommended vaccine for 2014. The flu mist (nose spray) is quadrivalent and we have plenty of the mist so we will be scheduling times to administer the mist. Children must be at least two years of age and not have asthma to get the mist.
It is highly unlikely that there will be flu in the tristate area until late December or early January.
We thank you for your patience and do feel we would rather our patients wait a month to get the right vaccine.
